Peace Lutheran Church is sponsoring a Winter Coat Drive to be distributed to those in need in the Rockdale- area community. The church is collecting new or gently used coats for both children and adults.

A very successful 18th annual Buddy Oney Toy Run was held on Saturday raising $2,500 more than the organization’s record year for a total of $13,650 with more donations promised.

The Grinch was in town recently doing his dastardly deeds, but Rockdale Police Officer Dillan Ford was having none of that. The Grinch was arrested at Caffey Corner and locked up.

The Rockdale Chamber of Commerce hosted a huge Christmas Market on Saturday at Wolf Park. Thirty-five vendors set up tents all over the park and hundreds of people came to shop for every thing from homemade gifts to baked goods to flowers to cotton candy and popcorn.

Tree of Angels celebrates 25 years Monday

The 25th annual Tree of Angels, sponsored by the Milam County and District Attorney’s Office, will be held at the Milam County Museum, 110 W. First St. in Cameron, at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 11.

Rockdale ISD Bands will hold their annual Christmas Concert tonight (Dec. 7) at the RHS Auditorium at 6:30 p.m. The High School Band, the Junior high Bands and the RHS Color Guard will be featured. The concert is free.

RCS food pantry holiday closings

Rockdale Christian Food pantry has a few closings coming up because of national holidays. Normal hours of operation are Mondays from 10 am to noon. Three upcoming closures will be Christmas Day, New Year’s Day and MLK Day on Jan. 15 of next year.

Gun Show at VFD Saturday

Majik Firearms will hold a gun show this Saturday, December 9 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at VFW Post 6525. General admission is $10. First responders, active military and veterans $5 with identification. Children under 12 are free and must be accompanied by an adult.
