An open house at MARC (Milam Adult Resource Center) will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, along with a Rockdale Chamber of Commerce meet and greet. Refreshments will be served. MARC serves Milam County adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Darian “Hump” Jackson, 12, lost his two-year battle with encephalitis, a brain infection. Hump is the son of Andrias “Shug” Jackson and the brother of Rockdale Tiger No. 10 De’Andre Stephens and Raelynn Jackson who is a Taylor Duck track star.

United Way of South Milam County held their annual radiothon on Thursday, Sept. 7.

First, we’re not going to panic

Someone recently said to me – “All this stuff at the Alcoa land is going to kill Rockdale.” I have been here a little over two years and I have seen Rockdale be a little town with a lot of grit. If I have learned anything, Rockdale is going to be hard to kill and we won’t go down without a fight.

Graham returns to her roots Saturday

Brooke Graham, along with family members Ben and Macy Graham, will be the featured artists on Friday, Sept. 15, at Frog Joy Farms in Chriesman and there’s a “small world” story to go with the concert. Last year Brooke sat in on a pickers circle at Front Street Burgers in Chriesman.
