Ihope all of you who celebrated June 19 had a great time. It seems to be bright and shiny for the day and that’s a lot better than dreary and rainy for the day. Our next day of celebration will be next month’s July 4. It will probably be so hot then no one will want to be outside.

Historical Society meets second Tuesday The Rockdale Historical Society holds their meetings on the second Tuesday of each month at the depot. “Please come to the depot to see and hear what interesting and exciting things are going on,” volunteer Pat Watson said. All are welcome.

Police arrest five on felony warrants

Rockdale Police Officers made five felony arrests dur ing the past week including: • Kiki Ali Cashaw, 38, Rockdale, was arrested on Wednesday by Sgt. Parker for obstruction or retaliation, possession of a controlled substance (less than 1 gram) and resisting arrest.

Locating interesting volunteer opportunities

Dear Savvy Senior, Can you recommend some good organizations or websites for locating interesting volunteer opportunities? I’ve been doing some volunteer work since I retired last year, but most of the jobs I’ve tried haven’t been very fun or satisfying.

SLOW. Water slightly stained; 83 degrees; 0.24 feet above pool. Black bass are good in the hydrilla along the south shore and up river around shallow timber. Crappie are fair on jigs and minnows fished over cover in 5-13 feet of water. White bass are good on slab spoons fished over main lake humps.
