Rockdale Christian Services operates a food pantr y at 224 W. Cameron Ave., open on Mondays (except federal holidays) from 10 a.m. to 12-noon. Donations of non-perishable food items are welcome, especially one-pound bags of rice, pinto beans, macaroni and cheese, canned soups and peanut butter.

Juneteenth parade, BBQ on June 17th; whole city invited

Rockdale’s Juneteenth Homecoming celebration will be held on Saturday, June 17, and the whole city is invited, according to organizer Henry Miller. The parade will start at the old McVoy’s store at 10 a.m.

Homecoming is Sunday; a little history

A longstanding Rockdale tradition will age a little this year when the annual Rockdale Homecoming is held June 11 at Patterson Civic Center.
