The Milam County District Attorney, the following felony cases were recently resolved in Judge John W. Youngblood’s 20th Judicial District Court:

FLAG BURNING

The American Legion will host a flag burning ceremony at Wolf Park on Wednesday, June 14 at 7 p.m. "Anyone with worn flags that need to be destroyed properly can bring them to the park," said Rod Stewart Commander of Post 358.

PACKED HOUSE

The Rockdale High School Class of 2023 graduated on Friday night. The bleachers at Tiger Stadium were filled with family and friends as Ryan Luckey gave his remarks to the crowd and his fellow graduates. The seniors then headed to their after party in Temple.

Second murder suspect turns himself in

After the arrest last week of Marquise Flowers, a second suspect in the April murder of Jeffrey McKinney Jr., James L. Godfrey IV, 22, Temple turned himself in to the Milam County Sheriff’s Office.

Juneteenth parade, BBQ on June 17; whole city invited

Rockdale’s Juneteenth Homecoming celebration will be held on Saturday, June 17, and the whole city is invited according to organizer, Henry Miller. The parade will start at the old McVoy’s store at 10 a.m.

Shooting standoff ended

A shooting took place Tuesday night in a house on Murray Avenue between Bowser and Wilcox. Multiple people have been shot according to reports we have received, which are not official. At least two of the shooting victims have been taken to the hospital.

Rockdale Homecoming set for Sunday, June 11

The Rockdale Homecoming Association is busy finalizing plans for the annual citywide Homecoming to be held Sunday, June 11, at Patterson Civic Center. The honored business is McVoy Grocery & Feed Store. If you are an early bird, doors will open at 9 a.m. for coffee, donuts and conversation.

Mortarboards went flying at the end of graduation ceremonies for the Rockdale High School Class of 2023 on Friday night.
