I’m reading through the New Testament in 2023. On Tuesday I read Matthew 8:1-17. It starts out saying, “Large crowds followed Jesus as He came down the mountainside.” When was the last time you saw a large crowd at your church? I ask because the church represents Jesus, right?

MASON SENTENCED TO LIFE WITHOUT PAROLE

Yesterday, after a 3-day jury trial, a Milam County Jury found Mark Mason, 51, formerly of Cameron, guilty of First-Degree Felony, Continuous Sexual Abuse of Young Child in Judge John W. Youngblood’s 20th District Court.  The jury returned their verdict in less than thirty (30) minutes.

Rockdale MDD signs agreement with Austin-based Found TX

The Rockdale Municipal Development District (RMDD) recently signed an agreement with Found TX, an Austin-based marketing firm. As part of the agreement, Found TX will help the RMDD develop a community brand for Rockdale, a comprehensive marketing plan, and build a new website.

On Saturday, Jan. 7, three RHS band members auditioned for the ATSSB All-State Band and Yovanney Dalgadillo (above) received first chair bass clarinet in the All-State Band. Abel Aguirre was 4th chair bass clarinet and Destinee Bluford received 20th chair clarinet.

Four persons were arrested by Milam County Sheriff personnel Friday, Jan. 6, during an afternoon drug raid at an address in the 100 block of County Road 311 west of Rockdale.

MLK Day march to be held Sunday

For this year’s MLK Day there will be a march starting at Wolf Park at 4 p.m. Sunday. “ The march route will go down Milam to Plum Street, then down MLK to Sumuel Park where refreshments will be served,” according to organizer Henry Miller.

MARC Ride meeting set for Jan. 22nd

The Bad to the Bone Riders, the MARC Ride Committee and the MARC Board of Directors have set a date for their first organizational meeting for the 22nd annual MARC Ride. Their first meeting will take place at 1 p.m. Jan. 22 at the MARC Center, 1705 Pecos Ave.

Grief support group to start January 23rd
