2022 Fair, rodeo kicks off with gorgeous weather

With sunny weather in the low 80s and almost no chance of rain, the Rockdale Fair and Rodeo kicks off this week with perfect temperatures. Events got kicked off on Wednesday with an exhibitor’s party and lots of check-ins.

Genealogy lock-in set for Friday

The Lucy Hill Patterson Memorial Library and the Milam County Genealogy Society will present the 21st annual Genealogy Lock-In on Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. This event is free and open to the public and participants may attend virtually or in person. Speakers include Joseph B.

Calling all Tiger band alumni

On the night of homecoming, Oct. 28, Rockdale Junior High RJH Symphonic Band students will join the Rockdale High School band at the football game. The students will have the opportunity to play along with the high school band throughout the first half of the game.

On Oct. 15 The Big Blue Band from Tigerland earned a Division 2 ‘excellent’ rating from the judges at UIL Marching Band Competition. “We are very proud of our students for their hard work throughout the season,” said Director of Bands Adrian Acevedo.

Halloween activities

The Rockdale Independent School District will hold their annual Trunk or Treat event at the Tiger Stadium parking lot on Monday, Oct. 31, at 5 p.m. This event is for the entire family, and you’ll have a chance to win a $250 Walmart gift card donated by Alpha One Chevrolet Buick.

CASA logo contest deadline is Oct. 31

Bring CASA to Milam County is looking for a logo design. CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates who are trained volunteers of the community who are appointed by the courts to work with children in placement by CPS. The organization gives children a voice to make sure they are heard.
