On Sept. 22 at approximately 7:15 p.m. Rockdale Police Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop of a white pickup operated by Kyle Jay Jones, who had active felony warrants through Travis County.

Minerva Homecoming set for Sunday

The annual Minerva Homecoming will be held for the first time in three years on Sunday, Oct. 2. It is a time to visit old friends and meet neighbors for a noon covered- dish meal at Minerva Community Center, 378 CR 232 Loop.

Sandow Lakes Ranch (SLR) recently presented $2,250 to eight local volunteer fire departments: Rockdale, Milano, Thorndale, Lexington, Tanglewood, Cameron, Minerva and Rosebud. These departments responded to two separate fires on the SLR property.

The RHS Class of 1964 will hold a reunion/class get-together from 3 to 8 p.m. Oct. 4 at Rockdale Country Club. The event will include hamburgers with all the fixings for $8.50. Water and iced tea will be provided with the meal. Sodas, mixed drinks and beer may be purchased separately from the club.

Mike Brown, 72, who retired two years ago after a 46-year career with The Rockdale Reporter, including 22 years as editor, died shortly af ter 2 p.m. Tuesday at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple with his wife Sue by his side.

MDD makes changes to popular façade grant program

At Monday night’s MDD board of directors meeting a vote to extend the façade grants for East Bell Taphouse and the Christian Information Book Store was granted unanimously. Each business needs only a few more months to finish their final touches.
