US 79 traffic shift begins this week

Beginning Thursday night, July 28, 2022, the Texas Department of Transportation’s (TxDOT) contractor will shift traffic on US 79 to the north side of the road between Rice Street and US 77 in Rockdale. The shift will allow work crews to finish improvements on the south side US 79.

Rockdale’s first female sergeant

Ofc. Catherine Parker became Sgt. Catherine Parker last week at a ceremony held at the Rockdale Police Department. And she is Rockdale PD’s first female sergeant, according to Police Chief Jerry Meadors.

New car wash sees progress

New clinic focuses on mental health

Early Friday afternoon, many community members made their way down to the One Stop Center, where the Rockdale Clinic had their grand opening complete with snacks and multiple represenresentatives, chatting to make connections with visitors while discussing the services they offer.

The Milam County Fire Chiefs’ Association held a fundraiser for Minerva VFD Fire Chief Ernie Glenn (in red cap) Sunday at the KC Hall. Glenn was suddenly diagnosed with a rare spinal cancer in the fall of 2021.

Milam County Genealogical society to meet

Thorndale 4-H/FFA fish fry fundraiser set for July 31st

The Thorndale 4-H and FFA Ag Boosters club will have a fish fry fundraiser at 11 a.m. Sunday, July 31, at the Thorndale Volunteer Fire Department Recreation Hall.

What is an Emergency Services District?

Kain Dodd, Chairman of the Milam County ESD Advisory Committee, presented his grassroots plan to create an Emergency Services District in Milam County to eventually replace AMR at last week’s city council meeting.

Topics of discussion announced for August groundwater summit

The annual Milam and Burleson Counties Groundwater Summit will be held August 18 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Caldwell Civic Center. All are welcome to attend. The Summit is free and open to the public with lunch provided.
