Student transfer applications being accepted by RISD

Parents of students transferring into the Rockdale Independent School District from other school districts are reminded to submit application for student transfers for the 2022-2023 school year. There is no transfer fee.

Chili relleno casserole

I got this recipe from neighbor and quilt lady Jody Morris. I haven’t made it yet but it sure sounds good. I would add some salsa instead of hot sauce and probably add more than two teaspoons. Someone white wrote this recipe. Probably a Midwesterner.

Two-a-days have begun for Milano volleyball and football. Soon we will be gathering to cheer on our student athletes. Remember to be nice. These are kids and they need our support, not our advice. That’s why they have coaches. There are always kids that could use supplies when school starts.

American Legion post has a local gun range

The letter to the editor in the July 28, 2022 edition seemed to indicate that there was no local gun range available to the public or for the local police to qualify. That is not correct. The American Legion Carlyle Post 358 maintains a gun range just outside city limits.

Beto O'Rourke to make campaign stop in Rockdale

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke will make a campaign stop in Rockdale on Friday, Aug. 5, at The Kay Theater at 6:30 p.m., according to Kay Board Chairman Brian Beard. O’Rourke and incumbent governor Greg Abbott, a Republican, will face off in the general election on Nov. 8.

Snap Fitness to host Jesse James July 30
