The life of a soon-to-be Nashville superstar

Last week we reported that Brooke Graham will, on June 22 at the Ranch, give Milam County residents a sneak peek of her new songs she’s been recording in Nashville with Tex Whitson, Merle Haggard’s long-time manager. This week we go into more detail about the recording process and her new songs.

Rotary scholarships available for adults, applications due by July 31

The Rockdale Rotary Club will be awarding two $1,000 scholarships to adults wishing to further their education. Applicants must have graduated high school or received a GED prior to 2022.

MARC Ride

The 21st annual MARC Ride held on Saturday at The Ranch had their most successful ride and auction ever with over $44,000 going to support the MARC Center and their consumers. Over 100 riders joined in this year for a very successful event.

McKinney family feted

At the 88th annual Rockdale Homecoming, 166 people showed up for visiting, food, great music provided by members of the original Regeneration Singers and to honor the McKinney family who have run Rainbow Courts since 1918. The meal was catered by Touch of Class Catering.

MCT Youth to present ‘Happily Ever Before’

Milam Community Theater proudly announces its Summer Youth Camp performances of the 2022 Season, “Happily Ever Before” by Tracy Wells, and directed by Andrea Bailey. Week One Camp Cast will take the stage on June 24 and 25, while Week Two Cast performances will be presented on July 1 and 2.

TWO VEHICLE/HOUSE CRASHES IN THREE HOURS—In the early morning hours last Saturday between 4:30 and 7:30 a.m. Rockdale had two vehicles that crashed into houses. In the photo above John Moreno was the driver of a sedan that crashed into this mobile home at 826 Ackerman.

Rockdale PD makes felony arrest, responds to two traffic accidents

Rockdale Police officers made one felony arrest during the past week: • Chad Ian Malin, 47, Rockdale, was arrested on Friday by Ofc. Parker for credit/debit card abuse.

Rockdale VFD Responded to: • 434 West Rockdale Road for the smell of burning plastic on Tuesday. • Shady Oaks RV Park #50 for smell of smoke on Tuesday. • Rockdale Junior High for report of gas leak on Wednesday. • 826 Ackerman Street for a vehicle that went through a manufactured home on Saturday.
