4-H spotlight shines on area high school grads

During May and June, we are highlighting Milam County 4-H seniors graduating in 2021. We are proud of these youth as they have worked very hard in 4-H, most of them for over 10 years. They have competed in numerous competitions and have gained life skills they will use their entire life.

Yard of the month

Rockdale Earth Day awarded the June Yard of the Month to Donna Cox at 1040 Cameron Avenue No. 16. She will receive a $25 gift certificate to Bloomers Garden Center in Elgin. Nominations for Yard of the Month are due on the 23rd of each month and can be sent to rockdaleearthday@yahoo.com.

Is Jesus your priority

Love unconditionally and forgive others

Matthew chapters 5-7 contain the Sermon on the Mount. The words Jesus spoke were done so very early in his ministry. The end of his ministry was marked by his preaching on Mount Olivet before his Ascension. A Pastor could preach every sermon his whole life and not get out of these verses.

Don’t be afraid to give offense if needed

Alcoa Retirees meet June 10, Thorndale

Rockdale Alcoa Retirees will hold a meeting on Thursday, June 10, at the Thorndale Veteran’s Memorial Hall, formerly known as the VFW Hall. “Doors open at 5 p.m. and a long, boring meeting will begin at 5:45 p.m.,” according to Doug Williams, president.

Liberty picnic meeting set for July 4 at 11 a.m.

The annual Liberty Picnic and Liberty Community Cemetery Association will be held July 4. COVID-19 prevented them from holding the picnic and meeting last year.

Milam County Girl Scouts acts of service

Girl Scouts of Central Texas (GSCTX) will celebrate their centennial, the 100th anniversary of the first Girl Scout troop formed in our area in 1921. “As part of our centennial celebration, Milam County Girl Scouts has chosen to perform service in Milam County.
