Officers make two felony arrests

A 26 year old man from McDade was arrested Thursday at 6:48 p.m. by Sgt. Michael Hubnik for unlawful possession of firearm by felon. A Fairfield woman, 50 was arrested Saturday at for possession of a controlled substance (1 to 4 grams).

FIRE CALLS

• Tuesday, 3:21 p.m., Milano VFD responded to US 79 near CR 329 for a grass fire. • Tuesday, 5:52 p.m., Rockdale VFD responded 226 Russell Dr for as transformer that caught fire. • Wednesday, 7:39 a.m., Rockdale VFD along with AMR responded to 545 S FM 487 for one vehicle roll over.

Blood drive set for Saturday

A blood drive is scheduled for Saturday at the Milano Volunteer Fire Department. The Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center will be on site from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Contact Devin Love, the drive sponsor, for more information, 512-820-8034. Sponsor code for the drive is BVL7.

Our family went to Kerrville for the weekend and attended Kendall’s graduation from college. We had a great time and are so proud of her. This Monday morning is a dreary one— looks like it might start raining, or worse, any minute.

Board changes COVID-19 protocols

The board amended COVID protocols for masks beginning June 2, making masks optional in school facilities except on buses, where they will remain mandatory per CDC recommendations during a meeting of the Rockdale Independent School District trustees Monday night.

Comptroller’s revenue estimate now online

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar recently revised the Biennial Revenue Estimate and projects 2020-21 revenue for general-purpose spending to be $113.88 billion and the ending balance in General Revenue-Related funds to be $725 million, an increase of $1.

Fair association plans truck-tractor pull

The Rockdale Fair Association plans a “rumble in the park” when it brings a truck and tractor pull to Rockdale Fair Park on June 11-12. Friday night the pull will begin at 7 p.m. with dancing under the stars from 8 p.m. to 12-midnight with music provided by The Other Band.

RISD public hearing planned

In the coming weeks, Rockdale ISD will be applying for the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER III) federal grant program. This grant will be a considerable funding source for RISD over the next several school years.
