I checked with the school to see if there were any upcoming activities. Nadine said they were busy getting everything finished up for the school year. I’m sure the teachers, staff and students are ready for the summer break. I’m guessing there are plenty of fun activities planned.

‘Steel Magnolias’ set to open May 8 Milam Community Theater is gearing up for its opening night of Robert Harling’s Steel Magnolias, under the direction of Mona Butala, with its “Night on the Town” dinner theater on May 8 at the Williams Event Center, 408 S. Columbus Ave. in Cameron.

Senate committee backs open-carry bill

Texans who can legally carry handguns could do so without a state license under a bill approved by a special Senate panel Thursday. Committee chair and bill sponsor Senator Charles Schwertner of Georgetown told members that the constitution is clear on the right to keep and bear arms.
