Gause VFD fundraiser to be held Saturday The Gause Volunteer Fire Department will hold their annual barbecue fundraiser on Saturday starting at 11 a.m. at the Gause VFD building at 110 E. Gause Blvd.

Wanda and Al Coats had all their family, except Erica and Jason who live in Virginia, here for Easter lunch and that was followed by an Easter egg hunt for the little ones. Wanda Sue is feeling much better. Keep her in your prayers. There will be a cemetery meeting at 6:30 p.m.

4-H officer in the spotlight

The Milam County 4-H County Council officer team works throughout the year to put on events. This year’s activities have been limited but members are working hard to make sure 4-H stays fun and exciting for members.

Ladies Auxiliary Spring Garage Sale set for May

After having to hold off for over a year, the Milano Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary will hold their Spring Garage Sale on May 6-8 at the fire station in Milano. The sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. that Thursday and Friday and then 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on that Saturday.

Anniversary

Caffey Corner celebrated the first anniversary of their store with a ribbon cutting March 10. The store is at a corner of Wilcox and Cameron Ave.

USDA to hold public session for energy plan

The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced it is requesting public input from interested parties, including potential customers and interested stakeholders, to help create a new Rural Renewable Energy Pilot Program.

Rockdale’s tax report back on plus side

Rockdale’s February tax returns from the state’s comptroller’s office were back on the positive side after January’s slight dip. February of this year was much better to city coffers that last year with the city’s sales tax total up almost 15% over February of 2020.

Quilt museum exhibit bathed in seasonal colors

The spring and summer exhibits at the Texas Quilt Museum in LaGrange are all about colors: in solids, in nature, and in glorious blue and white. The will run through Sept. 18.
