The U.S. House recently passed the Farm Workforce Modernization Act. It’s the second time since 1986 that the House has approved an agriculture immigration reform bill. The bill’s prospects in the U.S. Senate are unclear.

MHS One Act Play advances to region

Milano High School One Act Play cast and crew have advanced again. The group was one of two advancing schools at the bi-district contest held Monday at Wilhelm Performing Arts Center in Bastrop. The company now advances to the Class 2A Region IV contest on April 12-13 in Corpus Christi.

The Rockdale Senior Center is open to all seniors 60 years and older starting April 5. To get on the waiting list, please call 512-446-2666 by March 29. Everyone who is able should wear a mask. If you are not on the Meals On Wheels list you will need to sign up.

Tape shows ex-commissioner saying he would tell legislators not to reverse electricity charges

The sole remaining member of the Public Utility Commission resigned Tuesday after he was caught on tape promising investors that the commission would work to dissuade the Legislature from reversing billions in electric rate overcharges assessed during the February winter storm.
