Parents can make all the difference

This week we would like to discuss parent involvement at Rockdale Intermediate School. There have been many studies done over several decades on the subject of student success as it relates to parental involvement in the educational process.

Senior Center reopens

The Rockdale Senior Center is once again open to the public and will be serving noon meals each week Monday through Thursday. Management requests that those wishing to dine at the center to call at least the day before they plan to come in for a meal.

Fundraiser to benefit the Place for Hope The ninth annual Hope Night, a fundraiser for the Place of Hope, will be April 16 at the Milam County Cowboy Church at 2100 US 77 in Rockdale. A dinner will be served and tickets are $25.

Police make felony arrests, work wreck

A 21-year-old Rockdale man was arrested Thursday for an outstanding warrant out of the Milam County Sheriff’s Office for a probation violation, a local warrant for theft between $100 and $750 and a charge of possession of a controlled substance (less than 1 gram).

• Tuesday, 7:56 p.m., Rockdale VFD responded to the 2800 block of FM 1712 for a down power line where traffic control was needed. • Wednesday, 12:45 p.m., Rockdale VFD responded to call of a carbon dioxide detector going off. • Wednesday, 5:50 p.m.

GRAND JURY REPORT

The following cases were presented to the grand jury and indicted as true bills with no “no bills” on March 18: • Destinee Ann Marie Wood, 22, of Rogers, first-degree felony, engaging in organized criminal activity.
