DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI—The 2021 Rockdale ISD Distinguished Alumni induction ceremony, hosted by RISD Superintendent Denise Monzingo, was held on Friday at 6 p.m. in the Rockdale High School auditorium. From left to right are Joan McKinney Ratliff (class of 1969); Penelope (Penny) Graves Redington (class of 1966); Kerry Ray, accepting on behalf of his brother, Will Ray (class of 1972) who was unable to attend; J.W. “Bill” Cooke (class of 1954), and Linda Kyle Pennington, daughter of Graham Kyle (class of 1936) who accepted her father’s award posthumously. A reception was held at 5 p.m. before the ceremony with drinks and special hors d’oeuvres prepared by the RHS cafeteria staff.

County opens state-sponsored infusion clinic

County opens state-sponsored infusion clinic

A state-sponsored COVID-19 infusion clinic opened Monday at 1 p.m. at the former Richards Memorial Hospital. By late afternoon they had already infused two patients. The infusions are given to people who have contracted the COVID-19 virus. After infusion patients are 70 percent less likely to be hospitalized when given within four or five days of the onset of symptoms develop. Patients do need to get a prescription from their doctor for the infusion.

Haven Jimenez, daughter of Vincent and Christina Jimenez, was crowned homecoming queen on Friday night at Tiger Stadium as the Tigers won their game against Troy.
