RISD waiting on advice now that mask mandate lifted

Today Governor Greg Abbott lifted the state mandates effective March 10, allowing businesses to return to 100% occupancy and no mandatory masks.

COVID-19 claims 39th victim

There has been yet another COVID-19 death. The Milam County death toll now stands at 39. There are seven Milam County residents hospitalized with the virus and two are on ventilators.

Milam County sheriff resigns

Chris White has resigned as sheriff of Milam County as of Monday. He gave Milam County Judge Steve Young his resignation Monday afternoon saying it was effective immediately. White was reelected to his second term in November of the past year.

RISD to move second grade

The Rockdale ISD School Board voted Monday night to move second-grade students to the Rockdale Intermediate campus, beginning with the 2021-2022 school year. Superintendent, Dr. Denise Monzingo said “Rockdale Intermediate has the space available to include second grade with minimal disruption.

Rockdale co-publisher is a TPA vice president

Ken Cooke, publisher of the Fredericksburg Standard-Radio Post and a co-publisher of The Rockdale Reporter, was elected second vice president Texas Press Association at a special virtual TPA board meeting held Jan. 21.
