Wow, plenty of snow around here! Completely overcast and looks as if it might hang around for a while. Our granddaughter, Addy, has had so much fun. Gause students are back in school this week. As messy as it is around with water and mud, I’m sure parents are glad they are back in school.

Year’s first big rain

Rockdale got 3-3/4 inches of rain Jan. 6, according to the gauge at the city wastewater treatment plant. The public works department responded by checking low-lying areas and blocking off streets that were temporarily impassable, said Jerald Brunson, the city’s public works director.

Storm spotter training program set for Jan. 14th

The 2021 severe weather season is not too far away, and the National Weather Service and local public safety officials want you to be ready. The National Weather Service will conduct a free, virtual severe weather training class for Milam County on Jan. 14, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Milano VFD chili supper, fundraiser set for Feb. 20

Milano Volunteer Fire Department chili supper is a go! The group is still working out the details, as things will be done a little differently for the annual fundraiser on Feb. 20. You will still be able to get some tasty chili and support a great organization.

Rockdale is a marshmallow world in winter

Rockdale Athletics to pick up tree limbs Saturday

  Rockdale Athletics is planning to lend a hand to community members that have limbs in their yard due to the snow storm. Saturday morning from 9-12 we will be driving around and helping to get fallen limbs out to the road so the city can pick them up.

Testing reveals more cases in the county

On Tuesday there were 66 individuals tested in Thorndale, with 25 positive results. Since Sept 1, 2,465 individuals have been tested with 684 positive results making a positivity rate of 28 percent.  There are no new COVID-19  numbers.
