The Gospel of Mark retells Jesus’ entering the synagogue and seeing a man with a withered hand. Mark says, “They watched him so see whether he would cure him on the Sabbath, so that they might accuse him.”
In 2 Timothy, Paul is in prison in Rome about thirty five years since his amazing conversion on the way to Damascus, and twenty years after he began his three missionary journeys. He wrote, “To be absent from the body meant he would be present with the Lord.” He was content wherever he was as long as he was in God’s will. Talk about the big picture. He is awaiting trial and execution and he is looking ahead to being with his Lord, not just his mortal life.
“Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?” (1 Corinthians 3:16)
