Sheriff’s race now a 3-man contest

With the deadline to file for the March 3, 2020, primary elections looming Monday the two-man race in the Republican nomination for sheriff has turned into a three-man contest. Former two-term Precinct 3 Constable Herbie Vaughn filed during the past week, according to GOP County Chair Bill Whitmire.

Abatement hearing set on ex-H-E-B plans

A public hearing is set prior to the Rockdale City Council’s regular monthly meeting Monday to discuss a “modernizing” request for a building which was once a major super market. The hearing is set for 5:30 p.m. in the council chambers at City Hall.

Toy run Saturday at Ranch

The 14th annual Buddy Oney Toy Run will be held Saturday, beginning and ending at The Ranch. Registration begins at 9 a.m. on that morning with the first bike out at 11. Sponsor is Bad to the Bone Riders. Registration is $20 per rider, $25 with passenger, or a new toy valued at $25.

Parade a week late this season

Don’t come to Rockdale’s Christmas Parade Saturday. That’s because it isn’t Saturday. In 2019, it’s one week later on Dec. 14.

All in the family

Talk about a family- friendly event. Sunday’s “Christmas at the Kay” was certainly that. Musicians Kyle “seated” and Stacie Griesbach performed with daughter Allison in tow. They were one of several musical acts, along with two church choirs, taking part in the annual Christmas-time tradition.
