TEACHERS OF THE YEAR

—The 2018-19 school year is ending this week in the Rockdale ISD and the distirict has named its teachers of the year as follows: Glenda Walker, high school; Lisa Flores, intermediate; Kathryne Roddam, junior-high; and Dawn Byrd, elementary.

WAS THE FAIR EARLY?

—No, the 2019 Rockdale Fair will be held in October as always. But 400 to 500 cattle were on hand during the weekend as the Rockdale Fair Association hosted a Cattle Classic event. In addition to competition, two clinics were conducted and the weekend also included a dance.

Homecoming ‘for all’ ahead June 9

Rockdale’s annual homecoming is for everyone when homecomers gather June 9 at the Patterson Center.

Traffic stops end with drug arrests during past week

Several traffic stops ended with drug arrests in Rockdale during the past week, according to Lt. Stephen Goodrich of the Rockdale Police Department. He said three persons were charged last Wednesday after a small amount of a substance believed to be methamphetmine was discovered during a search.
