The 102-member Rockdale High School Class of 2019 did something Friday evening no other class can ever do. They became the first class to graduate in the new Tiger Stadium, which was completed last October. This is about half the class. The evening featured speeches by Rev.

Sidewalk project to elementary campus eyed

If the City of Rockdale gets its way, and early indications are encouraging, pedestrians will one day be able to walk from the corner of Cameron and Green all the way to the elementary school on new sidewalks.

The names: 236 Milam heroes honored

The names of 236 American heroes—Milam County’s war dead in five wars— were read Monday morning as American Legion Post 358 hosted Rockdale’s annual Memorial Day. Host organization for Rockdale’s Memorial Day service alternates each year between the Legion and VFW Post 6525.

SWEARING-IN—Rockdale ISD trustees (L-R) Wenda Dyer (Place 5) Charles Miles (Place 4) and Amy Ogea-Casas (Place 3) were sworn in recently during the May school board session. Casas won a contested race on May 4 while Dyer and Miles were unopposed.

$300,000 for ‘junkyard’ cleanup

CAMERON—Milam County commissioners, meeting Monday in regular session, learned the price tag for cleaning up the notorious East Cameron Avenue “junkyard” in Rockdale might cost between $200,000 and $300,000.

Police probing $5,000 forgery

POLICE REPORT Rockdale Police are investigating a report of a $5,000 forged check. Lt. Stephen Goodrich said police were notified by the owner of a convenience store who found that expenditure in banking records.
