Happy New Year! Did you make any resolutions for this year? Not me, I probaby would not do them anyway. At my age, I just take each day as it comes. My goal this week is to get the Christmas tree decorations off the tree and into their boxes. No promises there!

Juarez earns doctorate from Nebraska-Omaha

OMAHA, NE—Clayton Bailey Juarez received a doctor of philosophy degree recently from the University of Nebraska-Omaha. He majored in industrial/ organizational psychology. Dr. Juarez is a graduate of Richardson (Texas) High School.

During the Christmas season, the pre-Kindergarten through fourth-grade Sunday School classes of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale held their second annual Build-A-Bear Project.

Many closings for New Year on Tuesday

QUICK LOOK Tuesday is, of course, New Year’s Day and most businesses and government institutions are taking the holiday off. Among the closings are all of Rockdale’s financial institutions. City Hall and the Lucy Hill Patterson Memorial Library will be closed Tuesday only.

New hours set for City Hall

Effective Jan, 1, 2019, Rockdale City Hall will have the following customer service hours available to the public for the lobby, phone, and drive-through: 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Alternate payment options are the City Hall drop box, online payments and bank drafts.

AG case nets child porn arrest

A 46-year old Rockdale resident was arrested Friday and charged with four counts of possession of child pornography after a five-month investigation by the Child Exploitation Unit of the Texas Attorney General’s Office (AGCEU). David Wayne Carter remains in custody in lieu of $80,000 bond.
