May 5 city, school board candidates issue statements

Editor’s note: Early voting begins Monday in the May 5 City of Rock-dale election. The Reporter invited candidates in Rock-dale’s contested race to submit statements of candidacy for voters to consider.

Caywood will sing Thursday at city library

QUICK LOOK Rockdale musician Ronnie Caywood will return to the Lucy Hill Patterson Memorial Library for a free concert. Librarian Melanie Todd said Caywood is set to perform at 6 p.m. Thursday. The concert is part of National Library Week activities in Rockdale.

Annual MARC Run slated for Saturday

The 17th annual MARC (Milam Adult Resource Center) Run, sponsored by Bad To The Bone Riders will be held Saturday, at The Ranch. “In the 16-year history of the MARC Run, it has donated 100 percent of the proceeds from its rides to MARC, amounting to more than $259,563,” organizer Starr said.

Southwest Milam Water Supply Corporation and the City of Thorndale are two of the entities receiving grants this year from the Post Oak Savannah Water Conservation District (POSGCD). The City of Rockdale applied for a grant but did not receive one.
