Mr. McNiel Sam McNiel, 79, died Tuesday Nov. 22, 2022, in Austin. Graveside services were held at Forest Grove Cemetery on Tuesday Nov. 29. Mr. McNiel was born in Rockdale on June 20, 1943, to James Larkin McNiel and Elva Mae (Ellis) McNiel. He was the father to Shawn McNiel.

Scruggs

Mr. Scruggs Rogers F (Sonny) Scruggs of Thrall went to be with the Lord on Nov. 17, 2022. He p as sed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Bastrop County on Feb. 6, 1935, to Horace and Lois (Cole) Scruggs. Mr. Scruggs graduated from Thrall High School.

ELDORADO—Geneva Frances Olfers Isaacs, 89, of San Angelo was called home by Our Lord peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2022. Geneva was born Nov. 1, 1933, the daughter of Annie Lois Gant t Olfers and Edgar Olfers, in Austin. Geneva and Leonard Floyd Isaacs were married on March 30, 1951, in Austin.

Margie “Mimi” Louise Gilchrist, 90, of San Gabriel died peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2022, at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Round Rock. Services were held Monday, Nov. 21, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. Internment was at Locklin Cemetery in San Gabriel. Ms.

Lyngle Leroy “Bill” Cardwell, 90, a life long resident of Rockdale, died Thursday, Nov. 10, 2022, at his home. Graveside services with military honors were held Tuesday, Nov. 15, at Salty Cemetery near Thorndale. Mr. Cardwell was born Sept. 24, 1932 in Rockdale to R.M.

John Dalton “J.D.” Acord of Rockdale passed away peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2022, surrounded by his children and fami ly members. He was born in Oktaha, Oklahoma, on Oct. 28, 1939, to Dalton Acord and Ethel Jean Jones Acord. J.D. married Florene Love on June 12, 1960, in Davilla.
