ROCKDALE POWERLIFTING

Rockdale traveled to Milano over the weekend to compete in The Eagle's annual powerlifting meet. Tiger senior Ernest Aldrete placed first in his class. Aldrete set a record of all the schools competing in the 308 weight class with a squat of 655, a bench of 540 and a deadlift of 500.

MILANO POWERLIFTING

Milano hosted a powerlifting meet that drew over 200 student athletes to their gym last week.

MILANO HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL

The Milano Eagles basketball team went 1-1 last week, winning a hardfought game against Bartlett, 49-48, before coming up short against Holland, 53-42. Milano is now 3-6 in district and 8-17 overall with only three games left in their season.

THORNDALE HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL

Thorndale Lady Dogs basketball team lost to the District Champions Lady Lions of Granger last week, 38-21. The Lady Dogs grabbed second place in their district and are currently 8-3 in district play with only one game left on their schedule.

2A REGION 8 FOOTBALL COACH OF THE YEAR— Congratulations to Thorndale’s Head Coach John Kovar who was recently awarded 2024-25 2A Region 8 Football Coach of the Year by Texas High School Coaches Association.

SEASON BEGINS— Lady Tiger senior Jasmine Lawhon practicing with the tennis team last week as tennis season arrives.

ROCKDALE HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER

The Lady Tigers soccer team lost last week in a lopsided home game against Giddings, 8-0, before losing on the road against La Grange in penalties, 1-1. The only goal was made by Leydi Mata. The Lady Tiger soccer team is winless in district play.

ROCKDALE HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL

The Rockdale Lady Tigers basketball team lost at home against Franklin, 57-23, last week and then won on the road against Thrall, 29-24. Key players in the Thrall victory were Kyndal Selgelid with 11 points, Jazalle Dunn with nine points and Tanisha McBride with five points.

ROCKDALE HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER

The Rockdale Tigers soccer squad is 2-2 in district play after splitting games last week against Salado and Taylor. SALADO— Big Blue faced some stiff competition against 4A-III 12th ranked Salado. The Tigers lost 3-1 and their lone goal was made by Wilmer Sorto with an assist by Angel Rivera.
