ROCKDALE HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL/SOFTBALL

Rockdale Tiger baseball ended on Friday night in front of Tiger Nation with a loss to Rogers, 9-0. The Big Blue Machine played Rogers twice last week and lost both games. On Tuesday they lost on the road, 1-0. This season was a disappointment after last year’s deep playoff run.

Granger GOOD. Water lightly stained; 60 degrees; 0.18 feet above pool. Black bass are fair on spinnerbaits and chatterbaits fished in shallow cover. Crappie are good in shallow water and are moving to open lake brush piles.

Rockdale Lady Tigers wrapped up their softball season last week with two losses against Thrall. The neighboring Tigers beat our Lady Tigers 10-0 and 13-8. Rockdale finished the season without any district wins and only five wins the entire season.

The Milano Lady Eagles are positioned to go deep in their playoff run that starts at 6 p.m. Thursday against Deweyville at Klein Forest High School in Houston. Milano finished 12-9-1 overall and 9-2 in district play, which allowed them to secure second place.

The Thorndale Lady Dogs softball team is the undefeated district champions after beating Bremond last week, 16-1. Thorndale went 12-0 in district and were 14-4 overall. COMING UP— The Lady Dogs were scheduled to play a warm up game in Thrall on Monday (after The Reporter deadline).

Last Thursday RISD students got to hear American Ninja Warrior Jared Greer encourage them about how to overcome the many obstacles of life. Greer has been a competitor on this sports entertainment reality show a number of times.

Rockdale competed in the regional track meet over the weekend with great success. • Freshman Jonathan Fuller qualified for the state meet in the 3200m with a time of 10:12.94, finishing second overall. He also ran in the 1600m and placed ninth with a time of 4:47.

STATE BOUND— Thorndale Lady Dog Bethany Preusse continues to crush records and is moving onto state after competing at last week’s regional meet. Preusse is the regional champion in shot and placed second in discus. She set a new regional shot record with a throw of 43-8.
