Congratulations to the Thorndale Lady Dogs! They have both a perfect season going and have claimed the district championship. Early last week Thorndale defeated Granger in straight sets—25- 19, 25-11, 25-13. They also beat McDade on Saturday, 25-21, 25-9, 25-13.

Granger GOOD. Water lightly stained; 85 degrees; 0.64 feet below pool. Black bass are good with catches up to 5 pounds on plastic worms. Crappie are good in 4-10 feet of water. White bass are good on spoons fished over roadbeds. Blue catfish are good on jug lines.

The Rockdale Tigers lost in front of the home crowd against Cameron last Friday by a final score of 35-10. It always hurts to lose but to lose to Cameron and to lose the bell seems to hurt just a little bit more. There is no doubt the Blue & Gold was up for this game, it just did not go their way.

MILANO—The comeback kids got their feelings hurt on Friday night. Milano hosted Burton and got shut out 41-0. The Eagles are trying to stay in position for a run at the playoffs and had won their last two games before this bully beat down. Milano is 3-5 overall and 2-3 in district.

Bulldogs cage Johnson City

JOHNSON CITY—The Thorndale Bulldogs got their first district win on the road last week against Johnson City. The final score was Thorndale 40, Johnson City 13. The Bulldogs are now 5-4 overall and 1-2 in district play.

Congratulations to Coach Cheryl Meuth, Rockdale’s cross country coach. She had a clean sweep with all the Rockdale Tiger boys long distance runners winning district—the junior high boys, the JV squad and the varsity team. Way to go, Blue & Gold!

STATE QUALIFIERS—The Thorndale Bulldogs and Lady Dogs traveled to Corpus Christi on Monday to compete in the regional meet and had four long-distance runners qualify to run in the state meet. Both Thorndale teams placed sixth overall.

REGIONAL—The Milano Lady Eagles ran in Corpus Christi on Monday at the regional cross country meet. It was senior Itzel Carrillo’s final race on the cross country team. Other team members included: Jarely Carrillo, Kira Cooper, Mirele Cooper, Ardena Gray, Kate Silvey.

Last week the Rockdale Lady Tigers lost on the road against state-ranked Thrall. The varsity lost 25-20, 18-25, 15-25, 20-25.

UNDEFEATED—The Thorndale Lady Dogs are dominating and don’t look like they can be stopped. Currently they are undefeated in district play (7-0) with only three more matches left in the season. Thorndale was to go on the road Tuesday to play against Granger.
