Entering this past week with a district record of 2-3, the Lady Tigers picked up two more wins to increase their likelihood of clinching their first post-season berth in program history.
Ro ckda le ba s eba l l opened their season on Monday night at Tiger Field, where they took down Thorndale 4-0 in a defensive battle where the Bulldogs recorded three hits and the Tigers had just two.
GIDDINGS—Lady Dog basketball’s fate came down to their post-season opener’s final seconds, with a catch-and-release from senior Abby Dickerson from well behind the three-point line as her team trailed 51-49 to Flatonia.
On Monday night in Fayetteville, the Milano Eagle basketball team opened the playoffs with a 66-55 victory over Ganado, the fourth-place team from District 28-2A. The Eagles move on to area and face the winner of Somerville and West Hardin, who played in Willis on Tuesday after press time.
