Drone show a huge success

Rockdale’s f irst ever drone show sponsored in partnership by the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce, the City of Rockdale, RIOT Platforms and the Sesquicentennial Committee, drew a huge crowd Thursday night at Fair Park at the July 4th Celebration.

New Rockdale city manager sworn in Monday

Mayor Ward Roddam administered the oath of office to new Rockdale City Manager Tim Kelty at Monday night’s city council meeting. Kelty comes to Rockdale most recently from Freeport but has also been city manager in two other Texas Cities, Red Oak and Anderson.

Dixie Whitmore turns 90 this week and a birthday celebration will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church Family Life Center. She has been the pianist for the church for over 40 years and has played and taught piano since she was 12 years old.

The Blonde took off on a walk with the world’s greatest Rough Collie named Captain, so I grabbed my Bible and a book I’m reading and I headed outside. It seems like I have been all gas and no brake for about two weeks. Not only me but several other big time Christians I hang out with.

All thorns are woven into a crown

In chapter twelve of Second Corinthians Paul tells us: “A thorn was given me…” What was this thorn? We don’t know. Sometimes Paul was totally disabled by it. The best guesses are that the thorn was epilepsy or migraine headaches or a malarial fever.
