There are two expiring seats on the city council which will be voted on in the May 6 elections. Current mayor pro tem Lin Perry is running for his West ward seat unopposed.

Jubilee Days are back

Jubilee Days are back in Rockdale on May 5-6. They were restarted by the Rockdale Fair Association last year, but before that they had not been held since 2010. Tickets are $15 and there will be a lot going on. Seniors’ and children’s tickets are $10.

POSGCD issues temporary permit amendment to Vista Ridge LLC

The POSGCD Board of Directors at their April 11 meeting approved issuance of a Temporary Permit Amendment to Vista Ridge LLC to increase production in the Simsboro aquifer while reducing an equal amount of production from the Carrizo aquifer.

MARC Center garage sale on Saturday

The MARC Center located at 1705 Pecos St. will hold a garage sale fundraiser on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12-noon. The items for sale will be inside the fence on the west side of the building. For more information, contact Ann King at 512430-0090.

Earth Day movies, plants

The Kay Theater will show two movies which have underlying environmental messages about climate change and protecting animals from extinction. The movies are The Day After Tomorrow showing Friday night at 7 p.m., and Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home on Saturday at 7 p.m.
