Lots of summer activities ahead at Rockdale High

Just because the 2018-19 school term is over, that doesn’t mean activities have ceased in the Rockdale ISD. High School Principal Tiffany Commerford Whitsel provided this information in her most recent newsletter: The campus received STAAR EOC scores the last day of school.

Kovar early CV graduate, heads on to Blinn College

COLLEGE STATION—Angella Grace Kovar graduated a year early from College View High School in May and attend Blinn College this fall. There she will study to be an Emergency Medical Technician/Paramedics and eventually a Nurse Practitioner.

AT SEA WORLD

Rockdale High School and Junior High Bands traveled to San Antonio and participated in the “A Note Above Music Festival” at Sea World. “Both of our bands had wonderful performances and received Superior ratings,” director Adrian Acevedo said.

Temple College lists awards, dean’s lists

EDUCATION NOTES TEMPLE—Temple College has listed a number of local and area students as recipients of award, and earning dean’s list recognition for the spring semester of 2019 as follows: AWARDS • Karmjeet Gill, Rockdale, recipient of the Anna Davis Clinical Care Award in Associate Degree Nursing.

Victoria Elliott, daughter of David and Sherri Elliott of Thorn-dale, received a $20,000 Houston Area Go Texan Scholarship at NRG Center in Houston on May 29.

Making history

The 102-member Rockdale High School Class of 2019 did something Friday evening no other class can ever do. They became the first class to graduate in the new Tiger Stadium, which was completed last October. This is about half the class. The evening featured speeches by Rev.

Sidewalk project to elementary campus eyed

If the City of Rockdale gets its way, and early indications are encouraging, pedestrians will one day be able to walk from the corner of Cameron and Green all the way to the elementary school on new sidewalks.

The names: 236 Milam heroes honored

The names of 236 American heroes—Milam County’s war dead in five wars— were read Monday morning as American Legion Post 358 hosted Rockdale’s annual Memorial Day. Host organization for Rockdale’s Memorial Day service alternates each year between the Legion and VFW Post 6525.
