Top 10 things to do on free fishing day in Texas this Saturday

AUSTIN – Texas offers a Free Fishing Day on the first Saturday in June every year to help kick off National Fishing and Boating Week. On this day anglers can fish on any public waterbody in the state without a fishing license.

Modesettes to gather Sunday in Thorndale THORNDALE—The annual Modesette Reunions is set for 10 a.m. Sunday, June 2, at the Thorndale VFW Hall on FM 486. Arrival time is 10 a.m. and a covered dish luncheon will be served at 12-noon. Those attending are asked to bring a favorite dish.

Amateur Radio Club sets exams Saturday The Milam Amateur Radio Club will hold amateur radio exams Saturday at the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce Rock House Office. Exams will begin at 10 a.m. and will continue until the last exam is finished, according to Stuart Wolfe, club president.

Mobile foodbank to offer drive-through pickup service

Rockdale Christian Services Food Pantry has designated handicapped parking and pickup at the mobile food bank distribution center at the Knights of Columbus Hall. This service is a new addition to help meet the needs of the pantry’s clients, according to food pantry officials.

Local churches host VBS this summer

Parents looking for something for their children to do this summer can enroll their them in summer church camps. These vacation Bible schools are being taught throughout the summer season and offer a variety of activities with a Christian message for students of all ages.
