Grand jurors meet, return 25 indictments

CAMERON—The Milam County Grand Jury met Thursday and indicted 25 individuals on 34 counts. PURSUIT—Eric Garcia, 35, of Temple, was indicted for evading arrest with motor vehicle in connection with an April 17 incident involving Rockdale police.

HIGHWAY BLOCKED

—US 77 southbound from the US 79 intersection was blocked for more than eight hours overnight Tuesday after an 18-wheeler flipped at the US 79 ramp.

Our family members attended the graduation of grandson Jaxon Hayles from St. Joseph High School in Bryan on May 17. After the program, we went to a restaurant for a great meal and time of visiting. His family from the Houston area also attended.

RJH promotion set Thursday

Yolianna Castillo is the valedictorian and Bridgett Grady is the salutatorian of the 133-member Rockdale Junior High eighth-grade class of 2019. Promotion exercises are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday in the Rockdale Junior High Gym. Castillo is the daughter of Juan and Lorena Castillo.

THORNDALE—Victoria Elliott is the valedictorian and Mattie Fisher the salutatorian of the 47-member graduating class of 2017. Graduation ceremonies will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Main Street Events Center in Taylor. Elliott compiled a 109.156 grade-point average.

Employees recognized for service

The 2018-19 school term is winding down and with it comes recognition of employees who have contributed their skills not only during the school term but for many past years. The Rockdale Independent School District handed out in a recent Staff Appreciation Banquet at the junior-high commons.
