Tuesday chase ends with drug arrest by officer

POLICE REPORT What started out to be a simple drug arrest on Murray Avenue by Rockdale High School evolved into a full-fledged chase Tuesday afternoon. Lt. Stephen Goodrich said Ofc. Joah McCaleb had stopped a vehicle and detected the odor of marijuana.

End of school year events scheduled at RJH campus

RISD REPORT The end of a school year is always exciting, but also hectic for students, teachers and parents. It is even more so for our second grade, eighth grade and senior students who are moving to the next campus, college or even lifelong career.

MARKET ON MAIN

—Rockdale’s Market on Main got off to a rousing start Saturday morning at the I&GN Depot Museum with a variety of items for sale including a farmer’s market. The event will continue every Saturday through Oct. 26 from 8 a.m. to 12-noon. There’s no fee and vendors are welcome.

—With the new police station’s decorative “Rock-dale” boulder as a backdrop, the Communities in Concert Band provided music for the brief ribbon-cutting ceremony Saturday morning at Green and East Cameron (US 79).

Activities wrapping up for National Music Week

ORGANIZATIONS National Music Week, sponsored locally by the Matinee Musical Club wraps up this week with activities on Wednesday. Also, local churches are asked to sing the National Federation of Music Club’s hymn “To Thee Our God, Creator King” at Sunday services.
