Who’s afraid of a little rain? Final figures on 2018 Rockdale Fair auction sales were compiled Friday and they show it was a banner year for support of area 4-H and FFA youth, despite the rain, event cancellations and wet grounds.

Senior citizens no longer ride free on ‘HOP’

You’ve heard about lines that literally go out the door? This was one Sunday in a giant benefit at the KC Hall for cancer patient Roxli Doss. The event raised $40,114.50 for 11-year-old Roxli who was diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer.

No-bills for six offi cials in probe

CAMERON—A Milam County Grand Jury on Thursday no-billed (refused to indict) six current and former sheriff’s department officials in connection with allegations made by a ex-county jail inmate.

Historical Society chili dinner Nov. 10 at park The Rockdale Historical Society’s annual chili dinner is set for Saturday, Nov. 10 at the New Salem Clubhouse in Fair Park. Hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. or until sold out. Desserts will be available and there will be a silent auction during the meal.

Trunk or treats

Several Rockdale-area churches are having “trunk-or-treats” Halloween night, in lieu of the traditional trick-or-treating.

Police start probes of theft and assault during past week

POLICE REPORT Rockdale police began several investigations during the past week including one each of theft against elderly and assault causing bodily injury. Lt. Stephen Goodrich said the theft against elderly probe includes the taking of several televisions from a Rockdale home.
