Final results listed from Fair sales

Final results were completed last week for all the auctions at the 2018 Rock-dale Fair. Total of all auctons, benefiting Milam County FFA and 4-H members, was $632,400.75. The youth livestock auction total was $333,991.05, the second highest total in sale history.

Cub Scouts earn Bobcat pins

Rockdale Cub Scouts Pack 789 had five Cub Scouts awarded their Bobcat pin. The Bobcat achievement is the first award as a Cub Scout. According to Cubmaster Jennifer Eubank, The Cub Scouts learned the scout law, oath, motto, handshake and sign to achieve this pin.

‘WHIP’ deadline Nov. 16

CAMERON—Deadline to apply for assistance under the 2017 Wildfires and Hurricanes Indemnity Program (2017 WHIP) is Nov. 16.

MASONRY STARTS—

The new Rockdale Police Station on the corner of Cameron (US 79) and Green has reached another milestone with brickwork proceeding at a rapid pace. City officials will tour the inside for the first time on Monday.

48 draw grand jury indictments

CAMERON—Forty-eight persons drew indictments during a Thursday grand jury session, according to Prosecutor Bill Torrey, who listed them as follows: • Colton Brady Coufal, 23, Cameron, bail jumping–failure to appear.

A SHORT CUT

—The heavy rainfall preceding and during the 2018 Rockdale Fair is gone but not forgotten. City Manager Chris Whittaker said the city will take a look at damage from the rains which also affected city roads around the park.

Deadline is Nov. 11th for ranch scholarships

THORNDALE—Deadline is Nov. 11 to submit essays to win one of 30 scholarships to Star Creek Ranch, a nondenominational church camp near Van, Texas. Thirty scholarships will be awarded, according to Richard Schneider, spokesman.
