Here is the jail log for Aug. 7-13 from the Milam County Sheriff’s Department.Jail logs list all persons charged with offenses through the county jail docket. Charges may change during the process. Persons are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law.
The widow of the late Sheriff David Greene, who died July 20 of a heart attack, joined current interim Sheriff Chris White in issuing a statement of appreciation for the support received during Greene’s illness and death.
The building permit for the long-awaited Rockdale Estates & Rehabilitation, an 84-bed nursing home, was issued in July, lifting 2018 to Rockdale’s No. 2 year all time in permit totals.
July total, obviously buoyed by the $5,580,000 permit for the new nursing home, were $5,612,777.
There was good news for Milam County in the August sales tax checks. The county, which is facing a tax increase and budget cuts, registered a monthly gain compared to the 2017 figures. Milam remains behind the yearly pace.

In last week’s issue of the paper, one of the First Purple-And-White Scholarship recipients college was incorrectly identified. Frances King will be attending Midwestern State in Wichita Falls. Bob Roberson, who established the scholarship, was not pictured.

Dr. John M. Weed III, who returned to his home town to begin his medical practice 44 years ago this summer, will be honored with a retirement reception Friday at the Patterson Center.
Hours are 5 to 8 p.m.
Dr. Weed is a native Rockdalian and a 1964 RHS graduate.
