Milam Sheriff Greene dies after valiant fight in ICU

Milam County Sheriff David Greene died in a Portland, Oregon hospital’s intensive care unit (ICU) Friday night. The sheriff, 65, who was stricken with a massive heart attack while on vacation in Oregon June 26, had waged a valiant, odds-defying struggle for 24 days.

22 indicted by grand jury Thursday

CAMERON—Twenty-two persons were indicted Thursday in the July session of the Milam County Grand Jury, according to Prosecutor Bill Torrey, who listed them as follows: • Amber Rose Trejo, 25, Rockdale, possession of controlled substance (1-4 grams).

Arrest ends case of sexual assault

POLICE REPORT An arrest last week in Thorndale ended a sexual assault of a child investigation for Rockdale police. Lt. Stephen Goodrich said Don Craig, 50, of Rock-dale was arrested July 18 by Thorndale Police Chief Martin Jackson on a Rockdale PD warrant.

Pedestrian killed in US 77 accident

A 45-year-olf Granger man died last Wednesday night when he was struck by a pickup while walking along US 77 about one mile south of Rockdale. According to the Department of Public Safety, Shane Sturgill was pronounced dead at the scene near County Road 322.
