Young wins nomination

It’s Steve. After a campaign which lasted well over a year, the Milam County Republican Party has a nominee for county judge after the 2018 Primary ended Tuesday evening. Steve Young won the nomination with an 1,865-1,386 (57 to 43-percent) victory over Frank Summers.

Plea ends business theft case

CAMERON—The extended saga involving owners of a former Thorndale business came to an end Thursday in 20th District Court when Steven and Tammy Dorsett, aged 49 and 53, pleaded guilty to felony theft.

Rockdale’s ‘Miracle Dog’ gets her home

In October she had been hit by a vehicle and was facing a lifetime crippled or likely being put down. But generous Rockdale came to the rescue and on Friday, “Ginger the Miracle Dog,” tail wagging and perfectly healthy, departed for a forever home in the country.

Rockdale man dies in crash

A 51-year-old Rockdale man died Tuesday morning in a two-vehicle collision just north of Rockdale on FM 1712. State Trooper Michael McHale said Christopher Hooks was pronounced dead at the scene, one-and-one-half miles north of Rockdale by Pct. 2 Justice of the Peace Sam Berry.
