Looking back...

100 YEARS AGO... Just as we were getting a little uneasy about dry weather, we were visited by a very heavy rain, and for several days it had rained. In all we have had about three inches and still the weather was not settled.

There have been a couple of instances of a return to some sense or normalcy around my house lately. Mom and her bridge club, Monday Night Bridge Club, got together for the first time in a year a couple of weeks ago.

100 YEARS AGO... The Rockdale Reporter presented the complete program for the County Interscholastic School Meet which was to come to Rockdale April 15. It wasn’t decided until the first of the week that the event would be held in Rockdale, and the arrangements were quickly made.

With the new $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief bill passed, we hope Congress and the White House will now show some concern about something that will hang around longer than this pandemic — the national debt.

I recently read that most people who attend church regularly have a “silent goal” of becoming a better Christian. That sounds good except these same people have no plan in order to become a better Christian. This is like saying I’m going to lose weight but never exercising or going on a diet.
