Looking back... Through The Reporter Files

100 YEARS AGO... A very interesting visitor to the executive office of the Chamber of Commerce was D.E. Woods, chief deputy supervisor of the Oil and Gas Division of the Texas Railroad Commission, who was sent on a special mission to survey the Rockdale-Tracy, Rockdale-Minerva and Rockdale proper...

Three friends in life

I recently read that most people who attend church regularly have a “silent goal” of becoming a better Christian. That sounds good except these same people have no plan in order to become a better Christian. This is like saying I’m going to lose weight but never exercising or going on a diet.

A couple of dessert recipes for Easter Sunday

Dear editor, I just read Kyle Cooke's article in the March 4 issue of The Rockdale Reporter commentary page. He shared his story so well and with such compassion. I almost “fell out” of my chair laughing at his experience at the funeral in Houston.

I’m celebrating spring and free vaccines

I received two wonderful phone calls last Thursday. The first was from my friend, Carolyn Hafley, telling me she had seen a sure sign of spring on the road between Rockdale and Milano: Indian Paintbrushes.
