The 2021 predictions are out now on what food shortages to expect this year. None of these really affect my family, but they might yours so I wanted to share. But this is not cause to go out and hoard again. The news is much better than last year.

On Thursday, Jan. 28, we will administer 300 first round shots at the former hospital in Cameron. The first 300 individuals on our waiting list will be contacted by phone and told of their appointment time for the shot.

County vaccinations continue next week

Next week we hope to get an additional 600 doses of vaccine. These are first round doses, meaning they are to be used for the initial shot. We will run two clinics in the county next week on Wednesday, Jan. 27 and Thursday, Jan. 28, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

100 YEARS AGO... C.F. Drake, secretary of the Rockdale Commercial Club, announced that negotiations had been practically concluded looking to the establishment of a large cotton mill in Rockdale, to employ not less that 5,000 spindles and consumer much of the cotton grown in this county.

I felt like a kid again all day Sunday while it was snowing. It was so beautiful. I couldn’t help but be out in it most of the day just watching it come down. It seemed quieter than normal, but the best sounds were hearing the kids and grandkids in the neighborhood laughing and playing.

We want everyone in Milam County to get vaccinated for the COVID-19 virus. We are working hard to get the vaccine administered, just as quickly as we get it from the state. We got our first 100 doses on Dec. 29 and since then we have received a total of 700 doses.
