Reader gives thanks for help with falling limbs

Dear editor, After the beautiful snowfall last week, I found that our live oak trees didn’t like the snow! Limbs fell everywhere, some very large. I found our driveway completely covered and couldn't get my vehicles out. My son took a day off to help. My neighbor came over with a chain saw.

Products expected to have shortages in 2021

The 2021 predictions are out now on what food shortages to expect this year. None of these really affect my family, but they might yours so I wanted to share. But this is not cause to go out and hoard again. The news is much better than last year.

Vaccination schedules continue in county

On Thursday, Jan. 28, we will administer 300 first round shots at the former hospital in Cameron. The first 300 individuals on our waiting list will be contacted by phone and told of their appointment time for the shot.

100 YEARS AGO... Rev. B.B. Blaylock, a former pastor of Rockdale Baptist Church, and one of the most popular ministers Rockdale has ever known, was set to begin a series of revival services, preaching his initial sermon on Sunday. Attention was directed to the ad of Maxie’s Theatre.

All right fellow Rockdalians, we have a mystery right here in our town that we need to solve. The beautiful, mysterious woman pictured here worked in the Old City Hall building. This photo was taken in 1940.

County vaccinations continue next week

Next week we hope to get an additional 600 doses of vaccine. These are first round doses, meaning they are to be used for the initial shot.

100 YEARS AGO... C.F. Drake, secretary of the Rockdale Commercial Club, announced that negotiations had been practically concluded looking to the establishment of a large cotton mill in Rockdale, to employ not less that 5,000 spindles and consumer much of the cotton grown in this county.

Our Capitol

As a small town journalist I feel somewhat obligated to say something about the events of Jan. 6 in our nation’s capital, but I’m still a little in shock. It was sad seeing my parents, horrified, watching the events unfold on television.
