Flag etiquette As a veteran, it thrills me to drive around Rockdale and see all the U.S. flags flying proudly. However, with flying the flag, comes the responsibility to lower the flag to half-staff for certain solemn occasions.

I feel a little less bah-humbug-y about Christmas this year. I haven’t been able to get in the spirit of it since Kathy died. It was her favorite holiday and she did much of the planning and was responsible for most of the fun.

We all know that a vaccination is on the way. In fact, the first of many will be available early next week. Medical providers will be the first to get the drug; then first responders; rest home workers and residents; and then the seniors and those who have underlying conditions.

100 YEARS AGO... H.C. Meyer, president of the East & West Texas Highway Association, called a meeting to be held in Palestine. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the building of this leg of the highway. A delegation from the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce was to attend. Mr. C.F.

With the escalating rise in COVID cases, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service has limited all programs in Milam County to 10 people or less. With this change, the Milam County 4-H will not host a face-to-face 4-H Awards Banquet that was to be held Dec. 13.

The Baylor University Collaborative on Hunger and Poverty (BCHP), in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and key public and private organizations, announced that it served more than 38.

ran across this recipe the other day and it sounds very good. There was a video of a lady making it and it’s also very easy. Definitely going to try this one. It’s kind of a cross between Mexican and good old Southern cooking.
