Easy, filling beef recipes for cooler weather

We had a very nice Thanksgiving, if a little smaller than usual. I got my once-peryear turkey fix and if I don’t see a roast turkey again until next Thanksgiving that’ll be just fine with me. I am ready for some beef. Or seafood. Or pork. Or anything that isn’t turkey.

Here we are into December. Time to start making plans for the holidays. Co-ed volleyball is being played at Gause Baptist Church at 5 p.m. on Sundays. Men’s basketball is played at 7 p.m. Mondays. These are played in the Family Life Center. Bible Study is 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Rockdale officers make 4 felony arrests on week

Police officers arrested four individuals for felonies over the past week. Juan Rubio Jr., 20, of Rockdale, was arrested at 1:16 p.m. on Sunday by officer Dillian Ford on a local warrant for theft of property less than $2,500 with two previous convictions.

Christmas bazaar deadline approaching, space limited

There is less than a week to get signed up for your arts and crafts booth at the upcoming Christmas bazaar. The Milano Christmas Bazaar is looking for vendors to sell between 9 a.m. to 2 p.m on the same day as the city’s Christmas parade, Dec. 12.

Toy safety starts with recalls

Few things compare to seeing the joy on a child’s face upon opening a holiday gift. Many adults remember holiday gifts they received as children, and holiday shoppers often try to look for gifts that will be just as memorable to the special youngsters in their lives.

4-H Cloverbuds project to hold group meeting

This year we will have our first ever Cloverbuds project group. We will be meeting monthly on Zoom to learn about projects and activities.

December is here, which means the holidays season temptation to overindulge. With the holidays comes fun, family and, of course, delicious foods. While holiday favorites are eaten around this time of the year, these foods tend to be high in calories, fat and added sugars.

Isn’t she a beauty? Rockdale now has a new, big, beautiful Christmas tree in Wolf Park for the whole town to enjoy each holiday season. The idea was conceived by the Rockdale Downtown Association with a lot of help from Chad Harris with Whinstone US.
