Spring forward

We’ve all heard the stories that Daylight Savings Time (DST) is about either farmers or school children. And actually neither of those are true. Farmers hated it at first. The school children walking to school in the dark weren’t really mentioned until the 1970s.

I have an iPhone 8 that is on its last leg so I’ve had to get a new phone. The day it bit the dust I really felt like my arm had been cut off. Isn’t it strange how much we get used to using them? It turned out to only be a charging cord issue but it’s still time to get a new one.

I was invited to Springfield Baptist Church by Henry Miller to take some photos for the paper of the kids doing their Black History Month program, and I really had a good time. I saw lots of people I knew and the kids did a great job, but the music made me stay for the whole thing.

Just one week ago we were dealing with an historic freeze in Milam County. We experienced record cold temperatures of almost 300 hours below freezing. Obviously when the pipes began to thaw we all realized we had a lot of property damage.

100 YEARS AGO... There was 100 percent attendance at the meeting of the Rockdale Truck Growers & Marketing Association, held in the executive office at the Chamber of Commerce. The case of H.C. Ledbetter contesting the will of the late Mrs.
