Ican’t say enough good things about this year’s Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade. I had a blast and took way more photos than I can use in this issue. I put them all on The Reporter’s Facebook page so everyone can see them, especially for people who weren’t able to be there in person.
I think it’s safe to say that after last week’s Parade-APalooza, we are well into the exciting, fun, and hectic days of the Christmas Season.
The parades this year were outstanding. There were more people, more venders, more entries, and… well…just more of everything; including holiday spirit.

For the first time in her history Rockdale was to have a “Community Christmas Tree.” Through the activity of the Parent-Teacher Association this form of celebration would be held Christmas Eve, with all churches and other organizations of the city cooperating.
Christmas is quickly fading into my rear-view mirror as I think about the New Year. Let me encourage you, New Year, new you? Probably not. Let’s be real, you are not going to change much in the next year.
Back in November, I had the pleasure to attend the Southern Baptist of Texas Annual Meeting. That is the state convention that our church is a part of. During that meeting, we heard some amazing preaching, but one preacher really stuck out to me. It was Dr. Greg Matte from Houston’s First.
Holiday shopping and gift-giving can often be challenging, but even more so when shopping for a person living with dementia. There are more than six million Americans living with Alzheimer’s disease.
There are a lot of us who have issues with the holidays when some family members are no longer present and I’m one of them. My sister Kathy was always the big Christmas person in our family and she’s no longer here to make it fun and exciting.
