$77 million?

No one doubts the importance of college football in the state of Texas. Not only is it important to fans all over the state and beyond, but big-time college football raises money to help support other sports that would be less viable without the funds football brings in.

Veterans Day program, holiday events

This year’s RISD Veterans Day program was the best one yet and, as usual, I got a little tearyeyed a few times. Those elementary kids singing “Grand Old Flag” got me right in the “feels.” They are on the front page this week as well as the veterans themselves who were recognized during the ceremony.

Veterans Day, other things in the county

This week has been and will be a busy week. Sunday, we saw the dedication of Worley Bridge as a State Historical Landmark. Worley Bridge was built between 1911 and 1913 and is on CR 428 off of FM 908 in Apache Pass. It’s on land donated by the Worley family, thus the name.

Two more things I’m low on in my old age

After a recent doctor’s visit I am now low on vitamin D and vitamin B-12. I am outside as often as possible because I work in a windowless office all day, so I am as brown as a nut. Even the pharmacist said I didn’t look like someone who needed vitamin D.

I’m a routine guy. I get up at the same time every day (except Sundays). The Blonde gets up before me and she spends about an hour alone with Jesus and then she comes in and wakes me up, “Rise and shine!” We then meet at our brand-new dining room table.
